"Freshpage" style
-
To install the style:
unzip Freshpage.zip archive to "\Styles\" subfolder of your FeedDemon
cache folder (menu: File > Open Cache Folder or in newer versions: File > Manage Cache ... > Explore cache folder... )
- you can easily change a few parameters (from my default settings) by simply editing "Freshpaper.fdxsl" file, for example:
- NewspaperTitle (curretly set to: "freshpage")
- ColumnWidth ("240" pixels)
- PageSpacing ("600" pixels; you can set it to 0 for your convenience or any other integer value)
- there is a few hardwriten assumptions, for example: if a newsitem exeeds 400 bytes it will take a double-column (wide-column)
- you can even replace background image (images\bg_ad.gif) with any real commercial content (for a joke or to experience contemporary press even closer ;-)
- notice that there exists a ToC in this newspaper and prev (<<) / next (>>) buttons
- considering size of this stile don't expect miracles...
- at high resolutions (full-desktop browsers) it's really a matter of chance if newsitems arrange nicely. But again - there is no AI (Artifical Inteligence) in the code, in fact all arrangement is done in CSS not in XSL (sic!), and CSS has NO-IDEA boxes of what size it puts together.... But for two, three (and somethimes four) columns it manages decently, if you prefer wide screen (wide browser window) its easy to decrease number of columns by increasing its width, you can also easily abandon double-columns as well, it's all up to adjusting (per user), it's all up to your preferences.
- it's definitelly NOT a style for viewing indyvidual items, tt was implemented only for stylistical coherence.
- personally I use this style in window of size ~ 500x1000 pixels (two narrow-columns or one wide-column), so I get it nicely arranged, unless rich-content appears....
- btw: take a look at: www.docuverse.com/blog/donpark/2003/04/24.html#a438; it's only a single screenshot, no application for testing how it really works.
- this is beta release of the style, so it can have bugs
- feel free to do whatever you want with this style
