"Highlight Watches" style
-
To install the style:
run the Highlight Watches.fdxsl directly and FeedDemon will prompt to
install it
- Added: case INsensitiveness (keywords: feeddemon, FeedDemon, FEeDdeMoN, etc.. are treated as the same one)
- Watch-Channels MAY NOT contain some problematic characters, like "|\/:<>*?" [double-quotes either] (i.e: illegal for regular filenames), otherwise FeedDemon will crash with this style. ational/diacritic characters are allowed.
- keywords MAY NOT contain some characters, like "&<>" [double-quotes allowed], since they aren't properly escaped in RSSW files
- since this style sordidly hacks around some limitation (of file formats mainly) of FeedDemon Nick will probably condemn me and surely will not support it directly. What's more, if file formats or file ames/locations change in future versions of FD, this style may stop working properly. Simply be aware of it.
- all (except for keyword list) Watch Channels' settings are ignored, in other words: keyword highlighting is ALWAYS:
- non-"whole words"-like (i.e. substrings of compound words are
highlighted too);
- case-sensitive (unfortunately FeedDemon DOES NOT allow for assigning: "feeddemon", "FeedDemon" as two separate keywords, even if "Match case" option is checked);
- applies ONLY to title and description fields ("content:encoded" and "xhtml:body" aren't supported by "Default" style);
- does NOT highlight keywords in HTML markup (i.e. <a href="...">)
- this style was designed for browsing Watch-Channels (since only there are keywords to be highlighted). For regular channels and for News-Bin-Channels it should behave as "Default" style
- since the main feature of the style is searching, it can work a bit slower than "Default" style with Watch-Channels.
- colors/style of highlighted/underlined keywords can be easily changed; they are defined in CSS section of *.fdxsl file
- This style is (graphically) fully based on Nick's "Default.fdxsl" style, but all modification have been clearly noted with appropriate comments, so it should be easy to move this highlighting functionality to any other style. There is no distinction between unread/read/flagged notes (as in "Default" style)
- this is beta release of the style, so it can have bugs
- feel free to do whatever you want with this style
